MN Breeders' Fund

This program is overseen by the Minnesota State Racing Commission.

This program allows for entry into state-restricted races (should there be any), as well as extra money going to owners and breeders whenever a horse races.

NEWS The bill modifying breeders' fund apportionments was enacted with Governor Tim Pawlenty's signature on May 16th, 2006. Available money apportioned for the Arabian breed will be distributed to owners who are Minnesota residents racing at the licensed Minnesota racetracks or at racetracks of border states.

The Arabian Breeders' Fund can be viewed here and is current as of June of 2007. It is likely that the rules for 2006 will not be significantly different, but that will need to be checked at the appropriate time.
It allows funds for:
--- Breeders of Minnesota-Bred horses
--- Purse Supplements
--- Minnesota Sires
--- Owners Awards to Minnesota Bred or Foaled horses

Moneys will be paid to the Breeders, Owners, or Stallion Owners if the horse finishes third or better in any pari-mutuel race.

For horses to be eligible, they must be registered, info on which can be found here.
In short:
--Mares must be registered or renewed with the Commission on or before Jan 31 before foaling original breed registration certificate must be included
--Stallions must be in Minnesota and registered or renewed with the Commission before Jan 31, and must stay in Minnesota for the entire breeding season (Jan 31 to August 31)
--Foals must be registered within 30 days of being born and contain the following information:
-----name
-----name of owner of mare at time of conception
-----date foal was born
-----owner's statement that foal was born in Minnesota
-----signature and veterinary license number of the veterinarian submitting the report

If you are planning on submitting a horse to the Commission, please go and read the full rules and regulations
